😍🌞🍍🍍🍍How wild is it that most of the people I grew up with would see my dinner here and say “what a pretty fruit platter for an entire party” as they sit down in their cubicle in Los Angeles to a styrofoam container of a fried chicken leg or turkey flesh wrapped in a gmo wheat tortilla🤦‍♂️ Modern society is so confused in my opinion and I know I might sound like an entitled cult leader here but hey, I’m just speaking my truth.

I grew up really safe and privileged, but I always knew that was just one way to live, and I was curious how others lived. That’s why I got on my bicycle alone and traveled across 13 countries traveling 30 miles at a time village to village. I wanted to freak myself out and be placed in situations out of my comfort zone that were absurd, even dangerous in certain ways. Those wild experiences gave me a much much clearer freer perspective on the life I wanted to live, not based on the programming I grew up with.

You can always go back to living however you want, but it’s really worth it to get out of your bubble and experience something completely differing than what you know in order to make a rational decision about the life you want to live moving forward.

😍I’ll NEVER loose perspective or gratitude that the reality of my life is I am a young man in Costa Rica building a permaculture fruit farm retreat center with a spring water pool after years of traveling the world. My privilege is insane and some might be annoyed by that but shit it’s just the life I was born into and I’m doing all I can with it and I appreciate it a whole lot, not taking it for granted! I mean that is crazy where I’m at with my life it’s amazing. I remember being a lil kid and wondering how my life would pan out. I always wanted it to be this interesting and wild and fun but I truly doubted if I could pull it off because all I knew was living in LA and being surrounded by business people.

I am so grateful that nature and sustainability and healthy living gets me off in life! We are building an infrastructure here on the farm so that we can live here full time and not need to leave if we don't want to. Our water is here, food is here, business is here, nature is here, family shelter is here, so we can simply be more like animals living in one place vs having to drive and travel around all the time just to survive or need to buy products and food that come from far away. I mean we aint like animals here haha we are building a very nice house, but you know what I mean, we are trying to source our life inputs all from the nature around us rather than relying on corporations to live.

The more you work on destroying your ego the happier you will be. Ego = greed and self criticism inevitably. Destroying your ego means seeing yourself connected in the web of everything and you can feel like a perfect lil puzzle piece of god and be happy with no ego. No ego is enlightenment because ego and attachment are similar.

But in our modern world, I don’t think you’ll go far financially, career wise or influence wise without an ego because you won’t see a point to excelling over others. My ego allowed me to think I was awesome enough to start a YouTube channel because I thought people should listen to me and improve themselves with my help and guidance. My YouTube channel brings me some money so I can build my dream life, plus I know I’ve entertained and inspired you all over the years, and I thank my ego for that. I love my YT channel it me happy.

But having a massive ego that is not in check will bring you soooo much pain because you’ll never be satisfied and always compare yourself to others.

So I think the good balance is to have an ego, let it fuel your hard work to make a good life for yourself and keep it in check by remembering happiness comes from seeing yourself in all things and we are all one.

Some people like me need to focus on less ego, but others who are more timid or not confident need to work on boosting that ego so you can love yourself and get shit done if that’s what you want. So figure out which camp you fit in and boost or destroy😎🔥

🌞Happy 2021 let’s make it our best year ever! When you think about it globally, every year in history is full of pain, genocide, economic destruction, growth, all of it. Poor costal towns get flooded by sea level rise caused by climate change, I imagine that feels even worse for those communities than covid on us. For decades farmers in India will suicide publicly because American agricultural GMO corps destroy their businesses. Imagine that shit.

Covid is real, it’s sad, the economic devastations is really messed up for people struggling to get by, but I don’t agree with the whole “2020 was the worst year everrrr” narrative. Shit’s crazy every year it just depends where you live and your level of privilege.

It might sound annoying but 2020 was amazing for me, and 2021 is going to be even better. A year ago I was happy living in Costa anticipating breaking ground on the land I had bought in the jungle, I had no girlfriend, I was smoking a lot, and I didn’t quite know how well this project would go. A very privileged problem solving situation to be in, but still a lot of responsibility and not knowing on my shoulders.

Today I am deep in a committed relationship with the woman of my dreams, I have a house half built, a spring water pool, a 1,000 square foot green house pumping out so many herbs and veggies, we have 1,000 pineapple plants, over 100 bananas of 5 different varieties, 50 exotic fruit trees including durian, mangosteen, coffee, tarap, jaboticaba, jackfruit, breadfruit etc. I am 50 days 100% sober, healthy, fit, motivated, and this week we start construction on our cabin and hostel so in a few months we can start inviting guest to come experience our land and farm. WOW.

My life is a wild ride or good choices, rougher ones, privileges, high amounts of responsibility, luck, and madness, but I love it all. What I am most grateful for right now is that I come from LA, but it just so happens that what GETS ME OFF IN LIFE is increasing my simplicity, mindfulness, love, sustainability and connection to nature. I can’t imagine living in 2021 but desiring more stuff, fame, money, partying, travel, that would be tougher these days. 🙏🙏

For me family will manifest in many ways, not just having kids or getting married although that’s on my mind tooooo🤗🤗In a few months we will be moving into our new home we are building on our land🏡Once we are there we can rescue more dogs that are currently abandoned or mistreated in our region of Costa, I can see us rescuing 4 or 5 hehe 😉 I’d like to rescue hens that live free on our land so Maggie can eat eggs from hens that live with us, and we will build friendships with them. We want them for their poop as well, poop everywhere hens! Good for building fertile soil!!

We just started building cabins and a lil hostel on our land so we can host YOU all and share the life we are living with the public to inspire you all to connect with nature and live sustainably. We are always planting more trees and plants too, some which will live for years, they are part of the fam and must be treated with love to thrive and serve us best.

When I’m in epic nature spots, which is super often, I like to look around and imagine what it was like for the indigenous people who lived in these places before paved roads, foreign tourists, super markets, air travel. What the energy was like. Magical. Intense.

To get to the this waterfall, you only have to drive 10 mins from my farm to the trail head, and then hike for an hourish, and you’re here. Unreal. We are so damn blessed to be here farming this land and being able to experience mother earth in this way.

I often think about if my method for feeling great

I often think about if my method for feeling great and having a meaningful life just works for me, or for everyone? Do the lifestyle principles that make me feel magical and amazing work for all of humanity, or most, or some, or are we all so different and truly get off on different things in life?

I hate religious fundamentalism and people who think their way of living is the ultimate truth, but ahhh I do feel that way about how I live my life haha I’m a hypocrite. But I also feel like I might be right because the way I live all started from studying the science on what brings people happiness vs anxiety, depression and emptiness and I followed that and it worked. Regardless let me tell you the lifestyle principles I think works universally for humans to feel amazing and be happy.

-Live immersed in nature. The city and concrete jungle in not as nourishing to your eyes, mind, respiratory system. Nature cannot be replicated.

-Eat the healthiest food. I think it’s a whole food plant based high fruit diet just like our closest nonhuman ancestors, but regardless of what you think is the best human diet, definitely get rid of oily, processed sugary, overly salty bullshit foods. Also don't eat too much. Eat the amount so that your body is optimally primed and you are well fed but not holding onto too much fat which will make life more difficult and drag you down. Sorry if that triggers you but it’s the truth.

-Have a friend or family support system where you can share and connect vulnerably about your feelings. You can’t be happy living life holding everything in.

-Grow your own food. Be invested in the process of growing plants that you eat, even if it’s basil on your window sill.

-Read about some wise spiritual philosophy. I personally have connected to buddhist and yogic principles of non attachment, oneness, and a gratitude based life.

So fire🔥 The bulk of my diet right now consists of bananas, coconut water💦🥥👨‍🌾, fermented coco meat, papaya, golden berries, pumpkin, ginger, turmeric, beans, garden greens, avo, yucca. Ahhh so yum. I’m so grateful that eating healthy makes me happy and satisfies me. It’s not easy for everyone to live healthfully but is for me these days and I understand how blessed I am for that.

Life is what you want it to be. You can be bitter, scared, self conscious, feel defeated, empty and lack excitement OR you can see life like a video game controlling a character through fun and obstacles. Life can feel like a magical place we are soooo lucky to be experiencing with no real responsibilities because we are animals and know we will die so even our most engrained commitments and beliefs don’t hold anymore power than the power we give them in our silly minds.

This is all easier said than done though. I know we were all born with different levels of privilege or lack there of and the struggle of life can be real, but with focus, positive mental attitude, spiritual connection to nature or whatever brings you perspective and peace, an understanding of non attachment, and some education or wisdom on whatever it is you want to do in life, I think you can do almost anything. Create anything. You can have a meaningful life. Just stay focused, work hard and try to stick to a plan of action.

Lots of humans struggle with addiction, probably you too. I definitely do, and recovery is one of the highlights of my life. I actually love the pain, struggle, and eventual overcoming of my addictions to become a better happier person. It’s intense, and I like the wild ride of pretty extreme shit in life. I think addiction is just anything you do repeatedly that gives you comfort but you know is not the best choice for your mental or physical health. In that case addiction does not have to involved the classic substances like drugs or alcohol, but it can be spending too much time on social media to distract yourself from work, being consistently angsty to your loved ones because you hold inner frustration about things, emotionally eating too much junk food, or over exercising to help love yourself and then you get injured. There are a lot of addictive behaviors humans use to cope with life.

When you become aware of your unhealthy addictions the best thing to do is look at yourself in the mirror, say you love yourself and you’re like everyone else struggling through life and it’s ok, but it’s time to go on the painful and beautiful journey of recovery because life is to be enjoyed not to be taken hostage over by your stupid addictive behavior. The scariest part of addiction is that you can be aware of it, you can want to get better, but you just can’t, it’s too hard to give it up. That is where accountability comes in.

You need to tell a friend or loved one that you are struggling with this and you want help and support to recover. Isolation feeds addiction. If you don’t have someone in your life to help you get over one of your addictions, DM me and we will see how we can be accountability partners to each other.

🍌🥥A few months ago @naturalialove and I decided to buy and eat ONLY, 100%, Costa Rican grown foods🌊 🇨🇷 These days I’d say 50% of our calories that power us come from within 50 miles of where we live comprised of farms of our friends we know personally, shout out to Luz, Maria Elena and Wade for your 🔥 produce!!🙏🙏The other 50% of our food comes from within 200 miles of us in other regions of Costa, and pretty much all our greens and herbs today comes from our garden here on our land. So rewarding

In 8ish months when we have unlimited fruiting bananas, papayas, pineapples, sweet potatoes and yucca on our farm, which we’ve already planted, that will increase the hyper locality of our diets sooo much. We have to wait a few years until we have all our exotic fruit trees pumping out avos, rolinia, jaboticaba, star fruit, cacao, mangoes, mangosteen, oranges, jack fruit etc etc because those trees we’ve planted take longer to produce.

Sustainable living, home steading and organic farming is about long term investments and patience. We work everyday in the garden which provides nourishment quickly, in just months time, but it’s just as important to put in work today that won’t “pay off” for years but if we don’t do it today, we won't get it later. You have to look super long term if you want to live 100% sustainably on the farm, and that is what we are working towards. Plan ahead, in a non attached way of course 🤗🌳🇨🇷🌶🍊🥭🍅

🍄 Foraging is even better than farming! 👨‍🌾 Farming is awesome but it’s playing god in a way. And by god I mean pachamama mother earth and there is NO WAY humans can replicate pachamama which is why wild foraging is simply the most satisfying, healthy, and sustainable way to live and eat! No human influence, just the natural ecosystem doing its thang🌎☀️

Pretty much all the fruits, veggies and grains we eat have been bred by humans for hundreds or thousands of years to be more palatable, big, plump, digestible and sweet. The original wild versions of our foods we eat looked and tasted a lot different than they do now. Like bananas with big seeds in the middle and tart lil apples.

I’m not saying selective breeding is a bad thing, I love big sweet bananas and mangos but it’s cool to also experience and eat wild foraged food exactly how mother earth had them evolve.

It’s called the PLEASURE TRAP. Let me explain super simply. For like 95% of our human history we were animals in nature hunting and foraging food to survive. High calorie wild foods were hard to come by, not like today with mega farms, grocery stores and restaurants everywhere. SO we evolved to get a chemical dopamine reward when we eat high calorie and palatable foods because that meant survival when we lived in nature. Oily Sugary Salty things have been desirably programed in us so we feel happy when we eat them.

This programming was really useful when we were wild beings in nature, but now it screws us up because we have unlimited access to calories but our monkey minds still gets happy when we eat high calorie foods, even though we know when we over eat processed foods we get fat, sick, diseased and depressed. Also when we get hooked on yummy processed foods it makes normal healthy whole foods not taste good at all because we have jacked up our mouth stimulation so much…making it even harder to get back to eating healthy.

So if you want to be healthy, fit, prevent disease, and live for a long time while enjoying how healthy foods tastes, you literally have to fight your evolution every single day and remind yourself that your desire for junk food is evolutionary programming that no longer serves us. It’s very hard to do, that’s why 70% of humans in developed countries are overweight or obese. But now that you know this, it’s your choice.

We compost all our food scraps and make effective microorganism tea from water, molasses and jungle fungus which we spray on our plants and soil to increase the micro biome of our soil in our garden!

I hated of my Dad for his coffee addiction when I was younger and now I’m a proud coffee snob who enjoy 2 double espressos a day.

I intend to tattoo basically my whole body and love them all and what they represent in my life.

I hated school so I want to homeschool my kids on the farm and travel with them and teach them about nature, mindfulness and sustainability in addition to traditional academic subjects.

I have a beautiful baby farm and work to learn more about the cycles and workings of nature so I can provide food and nourishment to myself and future family.

Rituals are dope. After years of living as a solo spontaneous nomadic traveler I have really enjoyed the change of pace having some more planned out consistency in my life.

Too much consistency and repetition can be very boring and soul crushing so I enjoy having a balance of living free, keeping the days activities open to unfold, with some days planned out in a schedule. Structure can be really helpful to achieving success.

This ritual is so transformative for us and our relationship. Farm life is relaxing as far as jobs go sure...but it’s hectic and exhausting sometimes too, overwhelming. So chillin, stretching, swimming and dancing on the beach eating cacao together is very rejuvenating for us and keeps our gratitude in perspective.

We love life. It’s pretty epic how grateful I am with our current flow and the life we building together. I can’t express fully how stoked I am to invite you all to our land to enjoy the vibes with us. We will be open for business soon. Working hard to make it happen.

Dan planted his fruit tree orchard here in my same town a year before we did, so before our bananas start popping off in 8ish months we are blessed to help Dan get through all the bananas his farm is pumping out.

There are levels to this shit! Like everything in life! You think you know what a banana is🤷‍♂️…that classic bland fruit at every super market in your city, but out here the bananas are actually delicious and vary incredibly based on the variety. This variety is called Gros Michel it’s he standard banana of Costa Rica. I planted a bunch of them, but I also have a ton of Apple bananas, Datil, Ice Cream which is my fav, Quadrado, Plantains, and Praying Hand bananas.
