There is one person that is synonymous with vegan bodybuilding. He is the man who started the movement, connecting plant-based fitness athletes together. His name is Robert Cheeke, and due to his creation of veganbodybuilding.com, vegan magazines, bodybuilding teams, websites, documentaries, and podcasts have spawned as a result. Robert went vegan as a 120 pound 15 year old after his sister organized an animal rights day at their school. Holding onto his childlike obsession with muscle men, just 10 years later Robert transformed into a 200 pound Natural Bodybuilding Champion.
In the early 2000’s Robert founded veganbodybuilding.com, which is still the premier data base and open community for vegan bodybuilders and people simply interested in health and fitness. Robert’s first book, Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness, was my vegan bodybuilding bible when I first decided to try building some muscle. All I can say is one year later I have built 30lbs of muscle!
After years of continuing to improve the formula on how to build muscle and lose fat practicing a vegan diet, Robert came out with his second book, Shred It!. This new book is a step by step guide on how to reach what ever fitness goals you have while also maintaining a healthy whole food plant-based diet. In addition to educating and inspiring people about the benefits of a plant-based vegan diet and lifestyle, Robert also tours as a motivational speaker and teacher on how to make your passion your full time job. Robert is a founding member of the Plantbuilt Vegan Muscle Team, speaker on the Holistic Holiday at Sea Cruise, and travels the world speaking about motivation, building muscle, and the vegan lifestyle.
